You, in my arms……
Wen Yiduo (1899-1946, poet and scholar) – “Perhaps” (The Funeral Song, 1926):
Perhaps you are really too tIRED from crying,
Perhaps, perhaps you need a nAP,
Then ask nighthawks not to cough,
Frogs not to croak, bats not to fly.
Don’t allow the sunlight to poke your eyes,
Don’t allow the fresh breeze to brush your eyebrows,
No matter who it is, no one can aWAKEN you,
Hold an umbrella of pine shade to sHELTER you to sleep.
Perhaps you hear this earthworm turning the sOIL,
These roots of little grasses absorbing wATER,
Perhaps the music you listen to,
Is more beautiful than the cursing voices of human.
So first put your eyes closed,
I then let you sleep, I let you sLEEP,
I put the yellow soil lightly on you,
I ask the *joss papers slowly to fLY.
Thank you for your sUPPORTING, aCCOMPANYING and leaving fOOTPRINTS in my lIFE in these 15 years.
fOREVER mISSING.
