殘月|wANING mOON

已褪色,
既惋惜,
是嘆息。
It has fADED,
It is a pITY,
It is a sIGH.

寇準(九六一年至一零二三年,北宋著名宰相及詩人)-《殘月》(其一):
Kou Zhun *₁ (961-1023, famous chancellor and poet of the Northern Song Dynasty) – “Waning Moon”(No. One):

半夜沉清影,宵殘猶伴吟。已甘垂樹杪,由得掛天心。
淡色迷蓬戶,餘光映宿禽。誰家傷早別,凝思共沉沉。
cLEAR lIGHT and sHADOW sinking in the middle of the night like cOMPANIONS chanting poems before dAWN.
The tREETOP that used to be sTRONG and bEAUTIFUL now is oLD and hanging in the sKY.
Faint mOONLIGHT filling the sHABBY room and the rest of it shining on the pERCHED birds.
Why is lEAVING always so sAD and lONGING always so hEAVY?

..,

nOTES:
*₁: Kou Zhun was a clean-handed and impartial person while working as chancellor/official, also because of this, he went through drastic ups and downs in the officialdom. He then was continually harmed by devious officials and constantly demoted at the end. He was fond of literature in his later years and left a “Anthology of Poems of Zhongmin” (A book of 3 volumes) in the world.
