除夜|oLD yEAR dAY

The end of the year,
The start of the year,
The thinking of the night.

Wang Yin or Shi Qing [Unconfirmed poets, the early of Kaiyuan (peak) period of Tang Dynasty (712-742)] – “Old Year’s Day”:

This year ends tONIGHT, tOMORROW urges next year to come.
wINTER ends over the night, later sPRING comes in the morning.
Climate and colours cHANGED in the air, and people are rEJUVENATED.
People are not aware of the aDVENT of Spring, in fact he has tOUCHED the plums in the backyard.

A hATEFUL woman in a “Hannya mask” – gHOST.

“Prajna”, in brief, means wisdom in Sanskrit, and can end hate, however, it (Hannya) is more considered as being “hateful (hate-ridden)” today in Japanese culture.

From October 1999 to October 2015, the thought of Hongkongers about “buying flat” still has not changed, much worse, and became few generations’ business.

Although we are looking at the same mOON, it’s far away……

Li Bai (701-762, Tang Dynasty’s famous poet who had a profound impact on future Great Chinese literature and art) – “ Quiet night thoughts”:

Moon shines at the front of bed,
Seems like frosting on the land.
Raise head and see bright moon,
Bow head and think of home.

秋詞 二首|tWO lYRICS of aUTUMN

I think:
lOFTINESS of Autumn, has nO worries, sadness, annoyance and impetuosity. It is cALM with cONFIDENCE and fOCUSING on mind.

Liu Yuxi (772-842, Tang Dynasty’s famous poet, literary writer, court official) – “Two lyrics of Autumn”:

“First lyrics of Autumn”
Loneliness is always lamented during the autumn since ancient times,
I say the Autumn days are better than the Spring mornings.
One soaring crane breaks the clouds in the clear sky,
Also moves the poetry mood to the nice blue sky.

半日閒|hALF dAY rELAXATION

It always could be the nADIR of life, take half a day relaxation to sort out your thoughts instead of forcing yourself, and then rESUME.

Li She (late Tang Dynasty poet) – “Mountain climbing”:

It’s drowsy all day long, like between drunk and dreamy;
Suddenly realize the Spring is about to finish, so grudgingly go climb a mountain.
Passing through a monastery inside the bamboo forest, and chatting with an old monk;
Immediately feel like snatching half a day relaxation from the mundane life.

One day, I accidentally saw this Berlin Volkshochschule’s flyer, printed (German) #1 on the card:

Translated in English:
“When the winds of change blow, some build walls and others build windmills.”(Chinese proverb)

I have taken long time to think but still could not get this proverb, even though I have asked my Chinese teacher and his Chinese teacher regarding this issue, both of them cannot understand. Plus the windmill was not invented by the ancient Chinese, but was spread from Persia many years ago. Until Ming Dynasty (around 13th to 14th century), windmill started to be recorded historically and used universally. However, “windmill” was not often mentioned in cultural creation. And when researching on internet, there’s a lot of people who understand Chinese have asked the same questions – the provenance of this so-called proverb and its authenticity. (……)

Spring’s visit is to intoxicate or awaken people from dreams?

Meng Haoran (689-740, Tang Dynasty poet) – “Spring Dawn”:

Day has dawned unconsciously during the spring sleep, and birds twitter everywhere.
Came on with sounds of wind and rain in the night, wonder how many blossoms have fallen.

Or a new start?
